Arunachal Pradesh Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Rajesh Tacho met Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Vijay Goel at New Delhi recently regarding various aspects related to the development of sports and youth affairs in the state. Taking the opportunity, Tacho submitted a memorandum to the union minister seeking centre’s help upliftment of sports sector in the state, an official release informed here today.
Tacho sought setting up of at least 10 sports school cum college in various parts of the state. He said this will help to tap the young talent at an early age and also offer them the opportunity to avail quality education. Tacho appealed Goel to sanction construction of another five new stadiums in the state as well as opening of five special area games (SAG) SAI centre.
“We have only one SAG centre at Naharlagun and another Sangay Laden Sports Academy at Chimpu (Itanagar). These two fall within the capital complex only. If additional five centres (SAI) are granted in this current financial year, it would be of great benefits to the young generation towards promotion of quality sports in the state,” the minister pleaded.
He urged the union minister to help in state opening more number of youth hostels and also sought aid for improvement of manpower. Goel told Tacho that he would personally look into all the point mentioned in the memorandum and promised his full cooperation in this regard, the report added.
